Read more: WabiA nod to the quintessential Japanese aesthetic, Wabi Tea.
Born from the idea of reshaping the traditional tea ceremony as a modern personal practice, we began with the notion of inspiration from the quintessential Japanese aesthetic; transforming the traditional tea ceremony into a contemporary, daily ritual.
Wabi Tea products serve as a canvas for celebrating the elegance of the unassuming, presenting BREAD with a unique opportunity to mirror their brand identity. Our mission was to reforge a visionary brand that epitomizes the values of simplicity, authenticity, and a deep connection to raw materials, all anchored in the principles of Japanese minimalism. We took the helm in crafting the brand identity, infusing abstract angles into the logo to underscore its distinctiveness. This design ethos carried over into the illustrations, each of which encapsulated three pivotal elements that define Wabi Tea: origin, tea, and ware
With a pronounced focus on the contrast of lines within the logo, we opted to create a series of labels adorned with colours tailored to each variation of the tea profiles. Adapting these to a raw finish material served to reinforce the brand’s original vision.
Embracing Wabi’s unfiltered belief that “less is more,” we embarked on developing socials and print material that emphasised the art of combining typography, imagery, and colour in an intentionally uncontrived aesthetic.
